A Guide to Color-Blocking with Zoe Kravitz

Zoe Kravitz creates some of my favorite streetwear looks EVER. She always looks pulled together and extremely effortless at the same time. One of the trends that she incorporates into her everyday looks is color-blocking. So, today we’re taking some of my favorite Zoe Kravitz looks and using them as a guide to perfecting color-blocking!
1) Utilize your simple staples
A common thread with all of Zoe’s looks is that the individual pieces are super simple. Basic tees, tanks, slip skirts, and flowy pants and dresses will be your best friend when recreating these looks. Using basic pieces allows for the color-blocking to be the star of the show.
2) Layer, layer, layer!
Layers are a great way to add depth to your look. On colder days double up on your outerwear and layer lighter jackets and cardigans under your heavier coats and trenches. Even as we move into warmer months you can create the illusion of layers by combining pieces of different lengths. Mix your graphic tee and shorts with an oversized blazer or even wear a slip dress with a hoodie over it or a tee underneath!

Combine your neutrals and bold colors to create the perfect look! A great go-to formula is… 1 neutral + 2 colors in the same family + 1 pop of color (see below).
